If you’ve been waiting for a sign that it’s time for a fresh start, this is it! According to numerology, 2026 is a universal Year 1, the beginning of a brand-new nine-year cycle. A time of planting seeds, launching dreams, and stepping boldly into your next chapter.
And I couldn’t be more ready for a fresh start.
This past year has been a whirlwind of endings for me. I’m finally and officially divorced. I’ve let go of my family home and most of its contents and furniture, downsized dramatically into a temporary rented home, and released so much of the past, both physically and emotionally.
There were moments I didn’t think I could do it. But I did, thanks to an incredible amount of support from friends and even strangers. And now, standing here on the edge of a new year, I feel a strange and wonderful sensation I haven’t felt in a while: freedom.
2025 was a Year of Endings, A Moment of Turning
Maybe you’ve had a year like that, too. One filled with release. With loss. Or perhaps just quiet, internal shifts. Not everything has to fall apart dramatically to signal change. Sometimes, it’s a gentle unraveling; a letting go of who we were, and how things used to be, a change of habit or routine, a new career.
But endings aren’t the whole story. The beauty of a “Year 1” is that it invites new beginnings and fresh starts. It’s an open door. A blank canvas. A chance to ask: If I could start from scratch, what would I create?
Not from pressure. Not from guilt. But from pure possibility.
The Power of Writing Your Ideal Life
A few weeks ago, my own coach gave me a powerful exercise from my own book, Coach Yourself to Success. Write out your ideal life, three years from now.
Not just a list of goals. Not a resolution. But a vivid, detailed picture of what your ideal life could look like, not this year, which is the usual assignment, but looking a few years into the future, so I’m not caught up in the recent past.
Where are you living? And what does your new home feel like?
What fills your days with meaning? What are you proud of? Are you sharing your life with someone?
The more I wrote, the clearer everything became. It was as if I was stepping into a parallel future, one that had been patiently waiting for me to claim it. I could feel the energy shift. My perspective softened. My heart lifted.
This is one of the most powerful tools I know to help you move on from the past and fully embrace the energy of new beginnings and fresh starts.
Want to Try It?
Here’s how you can do the same exercise:
Give yourself 15 to 30 minutes. Set the scene – light a candle, make a cup of tea.
Date it: December 31, 2028. You’re writing from your future self, looking around at your life.
Use the present tense. Describe everything as if it’s happening now. “I wake up in a cozy cottage by the sea…” or “I feel proud of how strong and grounded I am…” I love the view from my bedroom as the sunlight pours in and the sounds of birdsong fills the air….”
Be detailed and specific. The clearer your vision, the more magnetic your energy becomes.
Let it flow. Don’t edit. Don’t worry about making it perfect. Just write what you feel. Let your heart guide your hand.
Then tuck it away. Or read it often. Let it guide your decisions in the year to come.
Start with a Wish
If you’d like a more playful approach to this, you might enjoy my earlier blog on how to make a wish list for the Universe. It’s another beautiful way to set your intentions with clarity and joy.
Writing your wishes down helps you tune in to what you truly want, not just what you think you should want. That’s where manifestation begins. And that’s when the Law of Attraction starts working in your favor.
New Beginnings Aren’t Always Big
Sometimes we think that to start fresh, we need to make sweeping, dramatic changes. But often, the biggest shifts begin quietly.
A new beginning might be:
- Getting up 30 minutes earlier to journal or stretch.
- Saying no to something that drains you.
- Reaching out to someone you’ve lost touch with.
- Finally, enrolling in the class you’ve been thinking about for years.
- Cleaning out a drawer. Or deleting old emails. Or taking a walk without your phone.
It doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be intentional.
This is how we make 2026 your best year yet. Not by hustling or striving, but by planting small seeds of change that grow into something beautiful.
What Are You Ready to Let Go Of?
Before you can step fully into a new beginning, you may need to lovingly release what no longer fits. On this New Year’s Eve, ask yourself:
- What am I ready to let go of?
- What story am I finished telling? (For me, it’s the divorce. Enough of that!)
- Which old role have I outgrown?
- What would feel amazing to leave behind in 2025?
Light a candle and write it out. Burn the page (safely!) if you want. Or rip it up and throw it in the recycling bin with a little ritual. The point is to give yourself a clean slate. There’s something powerful about witnessing yourself let go.
Let This Be Your Turning Point
2026 holds the energy of a fresh start. But it won’t happen by accident; you have to choose it.
Choose to believe in new possibilities.
Choose to trust yourself again.
And choose to take that one brave step toward the life you really want.
You don’t need all the answers. Just a little hope, a little clarity—and a little willingness to begin again.
