Hooray! You’ve made it! You now rank quite high in the realm of personal growth and development as very few people make it this far. The vast majority of the world can’t even articulate their top four personal and emotional needs, let alone have a clue as to how to ask someone to fulfill them. And fewer yet have oriented their life around their core values and are living in accordance with their natural talents and abilities. You are in an elite minority. Congratulations! Now it really is time to celebrate in fine style. You are fully entitled to reward yourself well. Some people like to throw a party to celebrate their new life. Others prefer to reward themselves with a special trip or vacation or a spa break. Who would you like to acknowledge on your path to success? Who has most supported you on this journey? Now would be the time to acknowledge them for the support they have provided and thank them. Now is the time to acknowledge yourself for your accomplishments.
Homework:
1. Make a list of all the accomplishments you have made during the past year, both big and small. Include personal results, such as making a new friend, as well as business results — that promotion, new job or business development. Include ways in which you have grown and developed as a human being. Are you more courageous? Confident? Happy? Do you have more time? Write down as many results as you can think of. Go through your calendar or diary as well as your weekly coaching reports as it may trigger things you have forgotten that you can add to this list.
2. Now read through each item, basking in the accomplishment of it. Read it aloud to your buddy, partner, spouse or friend if you would like. Let the accomplishment really sink in. Feel the gratitude for all that you have done.
3.Thank whoever has supported you in this process and tell them specifically how they helped (by sending a card, making a phone call or in person).
4.Throw a party or decide how you will celebrate and book this event into your schedule.
10 Minute Option:
Start with your list of accomplishments, jotting down as much as you can think of in 10 minutes. Then come back to this assignment before you start moving on to the next thing. We rarely take time to acknowledge ourselves and those who have helped us along the way. It is very important that you do this. Let the sense of accomplishment sink in. Come back and finish all four steps when you have more time before you tackle the next level. You’ll be glad you did!
