48: Spontaneous Generosity

Spontaneously engage in acts of benevolence and generosity. –Leon Nacson

One of the cures for anxiety is to perform a random act of kindness. Open a door for someone. Help an elderly person cross the street or carry their groceries. Drop coins outside a school yard for young kids to find. Send an annoymous check or make an annoynmous donation. Pick up the trash blowing around on your street. Be a secret angel. Buy the toll for the person in the car behind you. Do a good deed. Hand the homeless person a sandwich. It makes us feel good to do something good for another person. When you give to another, spontaneously and generously, it reinforces that you have more than enough. It sends the message to the universe that you are abundant. This is a good message to send as like attracts like. The more abundant and generous you are, the more good stuff will come your way. It is like building up good karma.

Homework:
Do one spontaneously generous, kind thing every day this week. If you enjoy it, keep it up!

10 Minute Option:
Do at least one spontaneously generous kind thing this week. Or think of small gestures you can do daily that don’t take up any time. Building in generous acts doesn’t have to take more time at all. Let someone cut in front of you in the line, hold the door open. Leave an extra big tip. These don’t take more time, just more thought.
