Now that you’ve literally just bought yourself more time, let’s make sure that you use that time to add genuine pleasure and enjoyment into your life, not to waste that precious time watching TV, surfing the web or twiddling about with Facebook for an extra hour a day! These sorts of activities can use huge amounts of our time without adding the experience of pleasure or joy. Review your 10 Daily Pleasures. Are there any of these that you could upgrade? Would you like to have more time to write in your journal? To cook a gourmet meal for yourself or your family? To go for a long walk in the park, woods or on the beach? Perhaps you make a deal with yourself that while your cleaner is working on your home, you’ll go for a walk. Or you will go out to lunch with a friend or spend that time on a favorite hobby or volunteering for a charity you enjoy.
Be sure to use this time well or it will be frittered away on those insidious and unfulfilling activities.
Homework:
Book into your calendar the enjoyable activity and make sure to repeat weekly. If you find it difficult to keep an activity in place, try organizing it with friends. E.g. Every Tuesday that the cleaner is in the house, you have a lunch date and walk with a good friend or two on a standing basis. Yes, you can automate your fun and it makes life easier!
Ten Minute Option:
Same as above.
Enjoy!
