10: Get a Weekly Massage

Massage is a superb way to combat the stresses of hectic modern living. By booking a regular weekly massage, you schedule in time to relax. Aside from the obvious health benefits such as releasing accumulated toxins and stimulating the lymph system, not to mention simply reducing stress, there are also a whole host of associated benefits that come with a weekly massage. I found it difficult to mediate for one thing, but having the massage makes me more relaxed and now it is easier to mediate and clear my mind. As a curious side benefit, my intuition is also stronger now. Perhaps it is more accurate to say my intuition was always there, but I was too busy and not sufficiently relaxed to listen to it. Now I often get flash insights that are right on target. In fact, one such flash insight led to finding an unexpected $300,000 which has more than made up for the cost of those massages! My personal trainer is amazed that I rarely get sore muscles even after a very intense workout. Massage releases all that lactic acid build up and makes it easy to recover from strenuos exercise.

Try experimenting with different styles of massage as well as working with different massage therapists. There is reiki, shiatsu, acupressure, reflexology, etc. You should feel completely comfortable and at ease with your massage therapist. During a massage you might release pent up or stored emotions and may find yourself having a cry. This is normal and healthy and a good therapist will provide a safe and protective space for these natural emotional releases to occur.

If you can’t afford a weekly massage, start off with monthly and get your partner or friend to take a massage class with you so you can massage each other once a week.

I recommend all my single clients to get a weekly massage because if you aren’t in a relationship, you probably aren’t getting enough cuddles or touching to fulfill the basic human need to be touched. This is the cure for that, and, as a side bonus, you’ll be more attractive to a potential mate or partner if you are getting massaged. You won’t be as needy, you’ll be more relaxed and your skin will glow!
