The founder of coaching, Thomas Leonard, made a point of buying a new computer every year because they were better and faster every year. You may not need or want to do this, but it is worth thinking about. I tend to get attached to my stuff, including my computers, and was amazed at how much faster my new iMac was compared to my four-year-old PC. I know it isn’t fair to compare apples to oranges, but it is worth considering whether upgrading your computer, your cell phone or other key equipment is worth doing or not. I’m not the kind of person who buys the first version to come out on the market because usually the second version is cheaper and often better. On the other hand, if you wait too long to upgrade, you may find yourself wasting time because your tools just aren’t up to speed. Again, I wouldn’t upgrade just for the sake of upgrading, but if you feel your computer is just a bit slow and frustrating or you are hungrily eyeing your friend’s new iPad and these tools would improve your life, then go for it!
Here is a list to consider and possible new benefit:
Tool… Benefit
Kindle or similar e-book reading device… Saves space on your bookshelves, lightweight.
Computer… Faster, more memory.
iPhone… Great free apps of every sort.
iPad… Movies, music, email, portable entertainment.
Homework:
Make a list of the new technology you’d like to have and how it would improve your life or business. Buy the tool that would make the biggest difference or the one you are most hankering after this week.
Ten Minute Option: Make a list of the new tools you want in your online journal.
Enjoy!
